Introduction to IC

1. Quite High Volume Loading Rate


IC anaerobic reactor has the characteristics of powerful internal circulation, good mass transfer effect and much higher volume loading rate (3 times higher) in comparison to the common UASB reactor. For the treatment of high-concentration organic wastewater, when the concentration of COD is 10,000 to 15,000mg/l, the volume loading rate reaches 10 to 18CODm3•d.

2. Saving Investment in Capital Construction and Floor Space


In comparison to common UASB reactor, the IC reactor is nearly 3 times higher in volume loading rate and only one-fourth to one-third in floor space, so that the investment in capital construction of the reactor is reduced. The IC reactor has small volume and much big ratio of height to diameter, as a result, the floor space is extremely small. The IC anaerobic reactor is particularly used for industrial and mining enterprises with financial strain to newly construct and expand the building.

3. Strong Impact Load Resistance


The IC reactor realizes its internal circulation, with the circulating amount of 10 to 20 times of the amount of charged water. Because the circulating water and the charged water are fully mixed at the bottom of the reactor, the concentration of organic matters at the bottom of the reactor is decreased, and the impact load resistance of the reactor is improved; and simultaneously, the sludge at the bottom is uniformly scattered due to the large amount of water, so that the full contact reaction between organic matters and microorganisms in wastewater is guaranteed, and the treating load is improved.


1. Good Water-discharging Stability


Because the IC reactor is similar to an upper UASB reactor and a lower UASB reactor which are connected in series, the lower reactor has quite high organic loading rate and the function of preliminary treatment; and the upper reactor is low in load and has the function of refined treatment, so that the water is stably discharged and good in quality.
